You know, I am really sick of hearing about how other women have "the best husband in the world" and "I love my life just the way it is." I call bull. I just don't believe that these people never fight with their spouse or that everything is just peachy. I DO believe that they put on a face and pretend things are just fine because heaven forbid somebody might find out they have problems too. Come on. Get real. And don't act so surprised or haughty when someone else is honest enough to admit that their life isn't perfect.

Similarly on my mission, I saw many people who didn't believe that the Gospel of Christ could actually make them happy. They couldn't understand how someone could have something that they did not have themselves because of their own actions. Early into my mission, I too fell into this trap. How could the Gospel of Christ be the GREATEST gift any one person give any one other person? How could it make them THAT happy?
ReplyDeleteIt took seeing the Gospel in action to help me to believe. I came know and understand the secret to happiness. As I grew internally on my mission, I began to understand the nature of the thing I carried with me and offered to the world. It became part of me and my own happiness to want to share it.
I testify that not only does following the Gospel of Christ make one happy, it makes marriages perfect, and there are people out there who maybe have had some struggles, maybe have had some arguments, but they are happy and made perfect in Christ. They truly have 'the best marriage' in the world: One based off of Charity, Compassion, Love, Diligence, Obedience, Faith, Hope, Humility, Virtue and Patience.
I know.. I've met them.
A word of warning. This is a force that can take that happiness away. This force desires not only the lack of happiness but the depths of utter depression and anger. It lives off of and operates on the principles of Anger, Selfishness, Hate, Procrastination, Disobedience, Doubt, Hopelessness, Pride, Sin, and Impatience.
It seeks the ruin of your life and your marriage.
One might ask: What can someone do in the face of such a force? The answer is to pray for strength, read your scriptures for guidance, attend church, and put on the whole armor of God.
Be grid with Truth, Righteousness, Peace, and Faith, and Salvation. Fight with the sword of the Spirit with all of thy art, and perhaps you will be able to withstand the evil day.
Ephesians 6:11-20
If you find at some point one of these holy traits failing in your life, you can pray and ask for them to be given, and a loving Heavenly Father will be there to assist you, nay he waits just on the other side of vision even now, waiting to give you that what can save you, if only you ask.
Before that same force whispers to you, I should clarify I am not perfect myself in all things. But I am trying.
ReplyDeleteCome on, Jena, tell me how you REALLY feel. :)
ReplyDeleteI know where you are coming from with the whole "My life is the BEST!!" comments from people.
I don't think they are saying that they never have problems. I like to believe they are just choosing to look at the good things in their life, instead of focusing on the bad things. Zack and I have our hard times. We fight. We get frustrated with each other. But I do think he's the best husband in the world ...for me. Maybe not for someone else, but he's the best for me! Even when we fight.
That being said, I do like it best when people are real or honest about their struggles. It's okay so talk about your problems. It just makes you more real to the rest of us.
AMEN SISTA!
